Updated: May 1, 2023

Come see Jumping Dreams Live in Charlotte, Nc Saturday May.6,2023

Jumping Dreams is a youth organization founded in 2017 by Angelicka Crawford and Dominique Artis, former champion jump rope sisters. The idea for the organization came from their love for jumping rope and the desire to give back to their community. Initially, it started as a hobby, but it soon turned into a full-time business that provides a safe and positive environment for kids to express themselves, stay active, and learn the importance of good citizenship. As black women originally from Connecticut now Charlotte natives, saw the need for physical fitness, emotional support, and mentoring youth in their community. Childhood obesity, bullying, and suicide rates among school-aged youth are rising, and the need to be the change they want to see in their community led to the formation of Jumping Dreams. Through partnerships with local organizations and schools, they provide mentorship to children and guide them toward building their confidence and self-esteem.

The mentorship aspect of Jumping Dreams is one of its most important aspects. The program focuses on meeting children where they are and building them up from there. The mentorship program is designed to help kids feel seen, heard, and valued. They offer a safe space for children to express themselves and to talk about any problems they might be facing. The impact of this program has been profound, with many children experiencing positive changes in their behavior, attitude, and self-esteem.

Running Jumping Dreams has been a rewarding experience for the founders. The opportunity to be on national television, like the Jennifer Hudson show, has been a highlight of their journey. Creating a salary for themselves and providing summer jobs for their Dreamers has been fulfilling. They are also proud of the fact that they are contributing to the development of great citizens of their community.
